October 10th, 2010:

Meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m.

- Members brought covered dishes. Lunch was served from 11am to 12pm. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
Special Guest Speaker: Julian Gray: Julian gave his presentation on the history and timeline for the new Cartersville meteorite fall. This is the 25th confirmed Georgia meteorite. It is a 297 gram ordinary chondrite that fell through the roof of a cartersville home on MArch 8th, 2009.
Auction: Several donated items and specimens were auctioned for the MAG coffers. Thanks to Julian for donating and signing multiple copies of the local newspaper that featured the story of the Cartersville meteorite.
Member Reports:
Dave Gheesling: Dave provided some additional information regarding the part that Falling Rocks played in the timeline for the Cartersville meteorite at Tellus.
Hal Povenmire: A new georgiaite has been confirmed outside of Georgia! The location is in Aiken, South Carolina.
Julian Gray: A new meteorite camera is being installed at the Tellus Museum. It will be part of a larger network of cameras to monitor the sky. Also, you can see the new Cartersville meteorite on display at the Tellus museum.
Show/Tell/Trade: At the conclusion of the meeting, BUYING and TRADING commenced.

Georgia Dave's Falling Rocks Collection |
Meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m.

- Anita was unable to attend due to illness. Sean Murray and Carl Ziglin conducted the meeting. Additional thanks go to Bary Gheesling for hosting the meeting.
Attendance: We had a GREAT turnout this meeting. In addition to 12 regular members, we had 11 guest: Thanks to William Size, K. Smith, Jim & Becky Sanford, Ronald Hill, Marion Bissett, Carolyn Hart, Rich Jaeckel, Scott Harris, Mike Martinex, and Judy for attending.
Membership Badges: If you have lost your membership badge, or have not yet received your certificate, please contact Sean Murray.
Auction: Several donated books and specimens were auctioned for $40.00. Thanks to everyone wo contributed in the Auction to support MAG.
Member Reports:
Jerry Armstrong: Meteorite collectors are encouraged to check out the Encyclopedia of Meteorites website hosted by the IMCA. It is important to document and post your meteorite collection.
Hal Povenmire: Hal is selling his personal collection of meteorites and tektites. Contact Hal if there are specines that you are interested in acquiring.
David Dundee: You can see the new Cartersville meteorite on display at the Tellus museum. This is the 25th confirmed Georgia meteorite. It is a 297 gram ordinary chondrite that fell through the roof of a cartersville home on March 8th, 2009.
Scott Harris: Scott Harris displayed several impact samples from his recent geological expeditions.
Show/Tell/Trade: At the conclusion of the meeting, BUYING and TRADING and a tour of Dave Gheesling's Falling Rocks collection commenced. Members also brought along their first, favorite and freshest specimens from their personal collections for display.

Meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m.

President: Anita gave a very brief address to the MAG members to allow ample time for our guest speaker.
Outreach: Anita gave a talk on meteorites to the Columbia, SC rock and gem club and 2 talks over two days (on meteorites) at the Jackson, Mississippi show. She just came back from a week at a lapidary school in Young Harris, Ga. where she also gave a talk on meteorites
Treasurer: Wayne gave the treasurer's report and collected fees for renewals and new members that joined during the meeting.
Next Meeting: The event was adjourned around 4:30 p.m. The next MAG meeting will be in July. Date, Time and Location to be announced.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Tom Bopp, co-discoverer of comet Hale-Bopp, Flew in from Phoenix, Arizona, to share his discovery story and the amazing details of what turned out to be the comet of the 20th century!
- 1:00 pm - MAG members arrive for our April meeting in the main auditorum
- 2:45 pm - General seating began for Thomas Bopp's presentation
- 3:00 pm - Thomas Bopp presentation
- 4:00 pm - Thomas Bopp was available for a meet & greet immediately following his presentation, and signed images of comet Hale-Bopp
